Read: October | Month of the Holy Rosary

Welcome to October, the month of the Holy Rosary. Ave Maria!

“Do you pray the Holy Rosary? If not, today is a great day to start,” suggests Bishop Earl Boyea of Lansing.

“Why, though, should we pray the Rosary? Because of Mary. She who knew Jesus best and loved him most. She who always leads us in prayer to her beloved son.”

According to an account by 15-century Dominican, Alan de la Roch, the Blessed Virgin Mary appeared to Saint Dominic in 1206 after he had been praying and doing severe penances because of his lack of success in combating the Albigensian heresy. Mary praised him for his valiant fight against the heretics and then gave him the Rosary as a mighty weapon, explained its uses and efficacy, and told him to preach it to others.

“I want to give you some advice: Never abandon the Rosary. Never abandon the Rosary. Pray the Rosary,” said Pope Francis on October 13, 2017, in a video message to pilgrims gathered at the Shrine of Our Lady of Fatima in Portugal.

“Never be afraid, God is infinitely greater than all of our problems. He loves us very much. Go forward in your journey without losing sight of the Mother, like a child who feels safe when close to his mother, we too are safe when close to Our Lady.”

Our Lady of the Rosary, pray for us!
