The staff of the chancery of the Diocese of Lansing raised their voices and hearts in prayer, April 4, as Bishop Earl Boyea blessed a statue of Saint Joseph in memory of Father David Hudgins, Judicial Vicar of the Diocese of Lansing and Pastor of Saint Joseph Shrine in Brooklyn, who was killed in a car accident in January 2022. May he rest in peace.
The statue was procured from a sculptor in Italy and purchased through the generous donations of the diocesan chancery staff.
It has now been set within a niche above a busy stairwell within the chancery building so that, whenever passing, staff are prompted to pray for the repose of the soul of their dear friend and former colleague.
Eternal rest grant unto him, O Lord, and let perpetual light shine upon him. May he rest in peace. Amen.
May his soul and the souls of all the faithful departed, through the mercy of God, rest in peace. Amen.
