Thank you to the more than 700 men from across the Diocese of Lansing who converged upon Ypsilanti on Saturday for the Diocesan Men’s Conference 2024 which, this year, had the theme of "Accept the Challenge: be the man you are called to be!"
“It was a transformative event,” said Craig Pohl, Director of the Office of New Evangelization for the Diocese of Lansing, “men departed equipped with newfound insights and a renewed sense of purpose, eager to live out their faith in a deeper way in their families and parishes, and to continue their journey of spiritual growth and service to others.”
The event at Eastern Michigan University saw three keynote speakers address those gathered within the college’s George Gervin GameAbove Center. They were Justin Fatica, founder and Executive Director of Hard as Nails Ministries; Doug Barry, founder and President of RADIX Battle Ready ministry and the host of EWTN's "Battle Ready"; and Father Joe Krupp, former comedy writer turned priest of the Diocese of Lansing.
“Justin Fatica's impassioned presentation on living with passion for our faith, family, and future ignited a fire within the hearts of those present, encouraging them to embrace their roles as spiritual leaders in their homes and communities,” said Craig Pohl.
“Meanwhile, Doug Barry's message on the necessity of being prepared for both physical and spiritual battles provided practical insights and strategies for navigating the challenges of contemporary society as Catholic men.”
“Finally, Fr. Joe Krupp inspired the men on the significance of the Eucharist which served as a profound reminder of the central role of the sacraments in nourishing and strengthening one's relationship with God.”
“The highlight of the event, though,” concluded Craig, “was undoubtedly Holy Mass celebrated by Bishop Boyea whose presence and guidance strengthened a sense of unity and purpose among the men.”
