Read: A Back to School Blessing from Bishop Boyea

Starting today, schools across the Diocese of Lansing are re-opening their doors to welcome a new school year ... and they do so with a heartfelt blessing from Bishop Earl Boyea.

"As we begin this new academic year, I offer my prayers and gratitude to all the families, teachers and other staff that make our Diocese of Lansing schools such happy and holy places where our children can grow daily in wisdom and virtue as young disciples of Jesus Christ," says Bishop Boyea, August 21.

The Diocese of Lansing contains 36 Catholic schools spread across 10 counties including four regional high schools. In total, diocesan schools educate over 8,000 students.

Last year, Catholic schools across the Diocese of Lansing recorded year-on-year growth in student numbers for the first time in more than two decades with enrollment growing by 8% over the past two years. Deo gratias. This year it looks like student numbers may well be up again. Deo volente. Our Lady, Seat of Wisdom, pray for them.
