Praise God from Whom All Blessings Flow!

With unbounded joy and gratitude, we bring to you the good news of the Blessing of Phase I of our new Religious House in the Diocese of Austin, Texas, which took place on February 16!

From the Diocese of Lansing, Michigan, home of our Ann Arbor Motherhouse, the Most Reverend Earl Boyea, presided over this beautiful and historic occasion, assisted by other bishop-friends of the community. We give special thanks to: Bishop Joe Vásquez (Diocese of Austin, Texas), Bishop Michael Mulvey (Diocese of Corpus Christi, Texas), Bishop Joseph Strickland (Diocese of Tyler, Texas), Bishop Brendan Cahill (Diocese of Victoria, Texas), Bishop Stephen Lopes (Personal Ordinariate of the Chair of St. Peter), and Bishop James Checchio (Diocese of Metuchen, New Jersey; who was unable to join us, but was with us in spirit).

Also present were many of our dear priests, family, friends and benefactors, whose sacrificial support made possible the construction and Blessing of our new Texas home. This significant presence in Texas provides much needed housing for our quickly growing community. It represents our first national expansion beyond our Motherhouse and a step forward in our founding vision to spread the witness of religious life across the country.

At the Blessing, Mother Assumpta announced the name of our new Texas home, “Our Lady of Guadalupe Convent”.  As patroness of the Americas, Our Lady of Guadalupe holds a special place in the heart of our own community as well. We seek her motherly protection and guidance as our Sisters take up residence, begin their studies, and continue to nurture and teach those entrusted to their care.

We offer our deepest and most sincere thanks to the many faithful who have partnered with us in countless ways on this journey, “deep into the heart of Texas”!  Please pray for us and know that we pray for you!
