The Deacon Convocation took place at St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church on Saturday, May 13, 2017. Bishop Boyea ordained nine men from the Diaconate formation program and one seminarian to transitional status. Congratulations to Thomas Arehart of St. Catherine LaBoure Concord, Larry Blondin of Holy Family, Grand Blanc, John Finn of St Martha in Okemos, C. Michael Gilbert of St. Patrick in Brighton, Patrick Gorczyca of Queen of the Miraculous Medal in Jackson, Gene Leger of Christ the King in Ann Arbor, Daniel Medich Jr of St. John the Evangelist in Fenton, Bryan Root of Good Shepherd in Montrose and Wayne Slomiany of Christ the King in Ann Arbor. The transitional deacon was John Machiorlatti, a Sacred Heart Major Seminarian, whose home parish is St. Thomas Aquinas in East Lansing.
