Dear brothers and sisters in the Lord, If you are a member of a parish within the Diocese of Lansing, I want to encourage you during Lent to take part in this year’s Disciple Maker Index survey. The survey is open now and concludes at the beginning of Holy Week.
What’s the Disciple Maker Index? The Disciple Maker Index, or DMI, is an anonymous survey that asks how well you feel your parish is helping you grow closer to Jesus Christ and his Holy Church, learn more about your faith, and live out discipleship in today’s world. It only takes about 15 minutes to complete. The data gathered through the Disciple Maker Index will be invaluable in helping your parish identify key strengths, areas of opportunity, and apostolic goals for the future.
The parishes of the Diocese of Lansing first participated in the Disciple Maker Index in 2020 and again in 2023. Approximately half of the adults who attend Mass regularly participated in these first two surveys, and I would like to see as much or more participation this year. It will be helpful to find out how things have changed, for better and for worse, and, hence, to know what more we need to do better or need to do differently.
As you may know, bishops are required to submit their letters of resignation to the Holy Father when they turn 75. This April I will turn 75, and I want to prepare this diocese well for a transition to a new bishop. The information you provide to the DMI this Lent will be of great assistance to him, whoever he is.
So, how can you participate? Click on the “Select Your Parish” box above and begin typing a few letters of your parish’s name in the search field. This will quickly help you locate your parish in the list. Once you select your parish, you’ll be directed to your parish’s specific DMI survey.
You can also visit your parish’s website or Facebook page to find the link to the DMI survey.
If you prefer not to complete the survey online, paper copies are available at your parish — simply ask for one.
Thank you for your participation. God bless you all.
Sincerely yours in Christ,
+ Earl Boyea
Bishop of Lansing
