The Diocese of Lansing’s Director of Life Ministries has welcomed the news that Planned Parenthood of Michigan is closing its clinics in Marquette, Jackson, and Petoskey, and consolidating its two Ann Arbor clinics into one site. It is also cutting 10% of staff.
"This news is most welcome and a testament to the power of prayer, love, and persistent witness,” says Jenny Ingles, pictured, April 8.
“Thank you to all the volunteers who pray, offer hope to mothers in need, and serve through compassionate sidewalk counseling. Your dedication is making a difference.”
Latest estimates suggest that over 1 in 5 pregnancies in Michigan ends in abortion. Planned Parenthood of Michigan is pivotal in both the promotion and provision of such abortions.
The news of the Planned Parenthood closures comes as the annual pro-life campaign, 40 Days for Life, continues to provide a peaceful and prayerful witness at three Planned Parenthood locations across the Diocese of Lansing: Flint, Ann Arbor and Lansing.
The Diocese of Lansing is a long-standing supporter of groups such as 40 Days for Life and Sidewalk Advocates for Life who both help promote and provide ethical alternatives to abortion. The latter organization receives funding from the diocese’s annual Diocesan Services Appeal to help train sidewalk advocates.
