As we begin National Vocation Awareness Week 2021, meet Diocese of Lansing seminarian, Seamus Kettner.
29-year-old Seamus hails from the parish of Saints Charles & Helena in Clio. He had considered the priesthood as a child but it wasn’t until he went to confession, while on pilgrimage to the shrine of Our Lady of Knock in Ireland as a student, that he really began to hear the call of God in his life.
“My whole life, I had seen religion as a set of rules and moral obligations but that shifted the scope to following a person, Jesus, and His love for me in my own life,” explains Seamus.
“And it really opened my eyes to what I wanted to do in my life. And that's when he gently whispered in my heart, to follow him, to be a priest.”
Hence, Seamus now finds himself in his third year of Theology at Sacred Heart Major Seminary in Detroit. Please do keep Seamus in your prayers. Saint Charles Borromeo, patron of seminarians, pray for him.
