Lk 7: 1-7
“After he had ended all his sayings in the hearing of the people he entered Caper’na-um. Now a centurion had a slave who was dear to him, who was sick and at the point of death. When he heard of Jesus, he sent to him elders of the Jews, asking him to come and heal his slave. And when they came to Jesus, they begged him earnestly, saying, “He is worthy to have you do this for him, for he loves our nation, and he built us our synagogue.” And Jesus went with them. When he was not far from the house, the centurion sent friends to him, saying to him, “Lord, do not trouble yourself, for I am not worthy to have you come under my roof; therefore I did not presume to come to you. But say the word, and let my servant be healed.” (Lk 7: 1-7)
- What is a centurion?
- A soldier in charge of 100 soldiers.
- What did the centurion ask of Jesus?
- “I am not worthy to have you come under my roof.” Where have we heard these words before?
- Mass
- Do you think Jesus healed the centurion’s servant?
- yes, he did
- Do you think the centurion believed that Jesus would heal his slave?

Lk 8: 4-8
“And when a great crowd came together and people from town after town came to him, he [Jesus] said in a parable; “A sower went out to sow his seed; and as he sowed, some fell along the path, and was trodden under foot, and the birds of the air devoured it. And some fell on the rock; and as it grew up, it withered away, because it had no moisture. And some fell among thorns; and the thorns grew with it and choked it. And some fell into good soil and grew, and yielded a hundredfold.” As he said this, he called out, “He who has ears to hear, let him hear.” (Lk 8:4-8)
- What did you hear?
- I wonder what Jesus was trying to tell us?
- I wonder which seed we might be?
- Do you think we’re growing well?

Lk 9: 10-17
“On their return the apostles told him what they had done. And he took them and withdrew apart to a city called Beth-sa’ida. When the crowds learned it, they followed him; and he welcomed them and spoke to them of the kingdom of God, and cured those who had need of healing. Now the day began to wear away; and the Twelve came and said to him, “Send the crowd away, to go into the villages and country around about, to lodge and get provisions; for we are here in a lonely place.” But he [Jesus] said to them, “You give them some thing to eat.” They said, “We have no more than five loaves and two fish- unless we are to go and buy food for all these people.” For there were about five thousand men. And he said to his disciples, “Make them sit down. And taking the five loaves and the two fish he looked up to heaven, and blessed and broke them, and gave them to the disciples to set before the crowd. And all ate and were satisfied. and they took up what was left over, twelve baskets of broken pieces.” (Lk 9: 10-17)
- What did you hear?
- Why do you think the people followed Jesus?
- What did Jesus do for the people?
- What did the Twelve (Apostles) want to do?
- What did Jesus do to the loaves and fish before the apostles gave it to the people?
- I wonder how Jesus feel about the people

Lk 10: 30-37
Jesus said, “A man was going down from Jerusalem to Jericho, and he fell among robbers, who stripped him and beat him, and departed, leaving him half dead. Now by chance a priest was going down that road; and when he saw him he passed by on the other side. So likewise a Levite, when he came to the place and saw him, passed by on the other side. But a Samaritan, as he journeyed, came to where he was; and when he saw him, he had compassion, and went to him and bound up his wounds, pouring on oil and wine; then he set him on his own beast and brought him to the inn, and took card of him. And the next day he took out two denarii and gave them to the innkeeper, saying, ‘Take care of him; and whatever more you spend, I will repay you when I come back.’ Which of these three, do you think, proved neighbor to the man who fell among the robbers?” (Lk 10: 30-37)
- What happened to the man traveling?
- Who came by first?
- Who came next?
- Who helped the traveling man?
- What did he do?
- Who was his neighbor?
- So who is our neighbor?

Lk 11: 1-4
“He [Jesus] was praying in a certain place, and when he ceased, one of his disciples said to him, “Lord teach us to pray, as John taught his disciples.” And he said to them, “When you pray, say: “Father, hallowed be your name. Your kingdom come. Give us each day our daily bread; and forgive us our sins, for we ourselves forgive every one who is indebted to us: and lead us not into temptation.” (Lk 11: 1-4)
- Have you heard these words before?
- I wonder what it means for God’s kingdom to come?
- Will God give us bread every day, or do you think it’s something else?
- What does that word “indebted” mean?
- offends us, sins against us
- Do we forgive everyone who is indebted to us?
- How can we avoid temptation?

Lk 12: 22-24
“And he [Jesus] said to his disciples, “Therefore I tell you, do not be anxious about your life, what you shall eat, nor about your body, what you shall put on. For life is more than food, and the body more than clothing. Consider the ravens: they neither sow nor reap, they have neither storehouse nor barn, and yet God feeds them. Of how much more value are you than the birds!” (Lk 12: 22-24)
- What did you hear?
- What does that word anxious mean?
- concerned, worried
- I wonder what Jesus is telling us about worrying?
- He says we are of more value (more important) than birds, do you think that means God will take care of us like Jesus said in the “Our Father” yesterday
Saturday, April 17th
Lk 13: 18-19
“He said therefore, “What is the kingdom of God like? And to what shall I compare it? It is like a grain of mustard seed which a man took and sowed in his garden; and it grew and became a tree, and the birds of the air made nests in its branches.” (Lk 13: 18-19)
- What did you hear?
- Have you seen a mustard seed before?
- The mustard seeds in Israel are tinier than carrot seeds, just specks!
- How big does Jesus say the mustard seed grows?
- I wonder what power makes it grow like that?
- I wonder what this can tell us about the Kingdom of God?
