Commentary on the Book of Revelation, Chapter 15:
After the announcement of God’s judgment on earth (chapter 14), we return to Heaven where God is ready to unleash the impact of the 7th trumpet. Just as the 7th seal issued 7 trumpets, the 7th trumpet will issue 7 plagues that will be poured out from 7 bowls. Before this last action occurs, we are reminded who God is that brings this judgment. Those who conquered the temptations of the beast praise God as the Almighty King, the One who alone is holy and whom all nations must worship.
The Book of Revelation, Chapter 15:
The Angels with the Seven Last Plagues
1 Then I saw another sign in heaven, great and wonderful, seven angels with seven plagues, which are the last, for with them the wrath of God is ended.
2 And I saw what appeared to be a sea of glass mingled with fire, and those who had conquered the beast and its image and the number of its name, standing beside the sea of glass with harps of God in their hands. 3 And they sing the song of Moses, the servant of God, and the song of the Lamb, saying,
“Great and wonderful are your deeds,
O Lord God the Almighty! Just and true are your ways, O King of the ages!
4 Who shall not fear and glorify your name, O Lord?
For you alone are holy.
All nations shall come and worship you,
for your judgments have been revealed.”
5 After this I looked, and the temple of the tent of witness in heaven was opened, 6 and out of the temple came the seven angels with the seven plagues, robed in pure bright linen, and with golden sashes across their chests. 7 And one of the four living creatures gave the seven angels seven golden bowls full of the wrath of God who lives for ever and ever; 8 and the temple was filled with smoke from the glory of God and from his power, and no one could enter the temple until the seven plagues of the seven angels were ended.

1 Vi en el cielo otro signo grande
y admirable: siete ángeles que tenían
siete plagas, las últimas, porque en
ellas culmina la ira de Dios. 2 Vi también
como un mar de cristal mezclado con
fuego, y a los que vencieron a la bestia
y a su imagen y al número de su nombre,
que estaban de pie sobre el mar de
cristal llevando las cítaras de Dios. 3 Y
cantaban el cántico de Moisés, siervo de
Dios, y el cántico del Cordero:
«¡Grandes y admirables son tus
obras,
Señor, Dios omnipotente!
¡Justos y verdaderos tus caminos,
Rey de las naciones!
4 ¿Quién no temerá, Señor,
y glorificará tu nombre?
Porque sólo Tú eres Santo,
porque todas las naciones vendrán
y se postrarán en tu presencia,
porque tus juicios se han manifestado
».
5 Y continuó la visión: se abrió en el
cielo el templo de la tienda del testimonio
6 y salieron del templo los siete ángeles
con las siete plagas. Iban vestidos de
lino puro y brillante, ceñidos con cinturones
de oro a la altura del pecho. 7 Entonces
uno de los cuatro seres dio a los
siete ángeles siete copas de oro llenas
de la ira de Dios, que vive por los siglos
de los siglos. 8 Y el templo se llenó del
humo de la gloria de Dios y de su fuerza.
Nadie podía entrar en el templo hasta
que se cumplieran las siete plagas de
los siete ángeles.
Pregunta de Lectio Divina del día de hoy
"Todas las naciones vendrán y te adorarán, porque tus juicios se han revelado". (v. 4) Reflexiona sobre este texto a la vista de las ideas que aparecen en el resto del capítulo. ¿Qué se sientes en tu corazón? ¿Qué te llama la atención?
