Instagram is the latest social media platform to be employed by the Diocese of Lansing to propose the person of Jesus Christ and his Holy Church to contemporary society.
“Any form of communication that we use that can advance the Gospel of Jesus Christ is a good thing,” said Bishop Earl Boyea of Lansing, January 30.
“If what we are putting on social media or any kind of communications is something that is good, something that’s beautiful, something that’s true, well that in itself is good fruit.”
In recent years, the Diocese of Lansing has increasingly used social media in an attempt to better communicate with the 1.7 million people who live within the ten counties that make up the territory of the diocese. This includes Facebook, Twitter and, now, Instagram.
Founded in 2010, Instagram is an US-based photo and video-sharing social networking service owned by Facebook. Instagram allows users to upload photos and videos. An account's posts can then be shared publicly or with pre-approved followers. Users can like photos, and follow other users to add their content to a feed.
