Marriage Matters Jackson receives grants to provide workshops

Marriage Matters Jackson (MMJ) was recently awarded $9,000 from two generous grants from local foundations to help continue its work of providing healthy relationship workshops.

The Hillsdale County Community Foundation awarded MMJ $5,000 to help support its weekly marriage restoration program. “Building Better Marriages” is offered each week in Hillsdale at The Hub Activity Center, 240 S. Howell St. The Monday night workshops are offered 48 weeks a year and are open to everyone. A facilitator covers a new topic each week and teaches valuable skills to help people strengthen and restore their relationship. There is no cost to attend.

The Hurst Foundation awarded MMJ $4,000 to assist in providing “Pick-a-Partner” healthy dating workshops at area schools. During the past four years, MMJ has offered the workshop to hundreds of teens in more than 10 area schools.

“We are so thankful to both the Hillsdale County Community Foundation and the Hurst Foundation,” explains MMJ Executive Director Shelby Raines. “Their gifts are critically important as we move into the next decade of serving people and offering workshops and resources to build healthy, happy marriages.”

Marriage Matters Jackson is in its 10th year of serving Jackson County and surrounding communities. MMJ has served thousands of people by offering healthy, relationship education workshops and events. For more information about MMJ’s offerings, visit MarriageMattersJackson.com or call 517.796.5116.
