Death of Rev David Philip Dupuis

Reverend David Philip Dupuis entered eternal life on March 13, 2015 at the age of 87. He was born September 9, 1927 in Jackson, Michigan to Harry and Adah (Mullinix) Dupuis. He received a BA from Sacred Heart Major Seminary in Detroit. He also attended the North American College in Rome and received his STL from the Gregorian College in Rome. He was ordained to the priesthood on December 8, 1951 at Our Lady of Humility at the North American College by the Most Reverend Martin O’ Conner.After his ordination, Father Dupuis served as Associate Pastor for the parishes of St. Michael in Flint, St. Mary in Mt. Morris and St. Mary in Flint. He became the Acting Pastor for St. Mary in Flint in 1960. In 1961 he was appointed Pastor for St. Joseph Parish in Gaines and St. Augustine Parish in Deerfield. In 1971 he also became Pastor for St. Mary Parish in Chelsea. He retired to Senior Priest Status in 1998. He became the Sacramental Minister for Holy Redeemer Parish in Vanderbilt on August 1, 1999 and served there lovingly and faithfully until his death.
Father Dupuis is survived by his sister, Harriet (Ted) Bachelder; nieces and nephews, Teresa Irelan, Theodore (Penny) Bachelder, Kristen Smrekar, David (Livia) Bachelder, Deborah (Kenneth) Avery, Catherine (Flip) LeFere, Denise (Larry)  Rider, Philip (Sandra) Dupuis, Paulette (Mark) Burgess and Angela (Jeffrey) Henry; many great-nieces and great-nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, John Anthony and Paul Daniel Dupuis and great niece, Natalie LeFere.
Masses of Christian Burial were celebrated at St Mary Cathedral, Gaylord on March 17, with Bishop Steven Raica presiding, and at St Mary Church, Chelsea, on March 19, with Bishop Earl Boyea presiding.
