40 Days for Life

Forty Days for Life began in Texas in 2004 and in 2007 the first nationwide, coordinated effort was launched. The project has since expanded internationally. According to Kathy Potts, executive director of Right to Life in Jackson, there are 625,000 people worldwide who are praying for the unborn child and protecting women from the harm of abortion. In Jackson, thirty-one churches – including Queen of the Miraculous Medial – pledged to have people praying in front of the Planned Parenthood building 12 hours each day for lives ended by abortion. Forty Days participants also will fast and do outreach in the community.
Rosemary Best, a Queen of the Miraculous Medal parishioner, said, “I really believe in the sanctity of life. My husband and I adopted two children before abortion was legal.” Currently, parents who want to adopt within the United States have a five year waiting period.
