Catholic Charities' "Pub Parties for the Hungry" events

Thirty-two local pubs are gearing up to raise money to feed the hungry at Genesee County Catholic Charities’ three soup kitchens. Beginning July 19 and running through Oct. 25, these businesses will participate in “Pub Parties for the Hungry,” each holding their own fundraisers throughout Genesee County.“We are in urgent need of food to keep shelves stocked at our three soup kitchens,” says Jon Manse, director of Catholic Charities’ Community Services Programs. “We feed an average of 500 or more individuals each day, which equates to more than 100,000 pounds of nonperishable food per year.”
Community members are encouraged to help those in need by coming out to support the “Pub Parties for the Hungry” events. Punch cards can be picked up at any of the participating locations. Patrons who have their card punched at ten pub party events can bring it to the Harvest Hoe-Down for the Hungry at Wild Spurs on Oct. 25 to be entered into a drawing. The grand prize, provided by FOX 103.9, is tickets for two to the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in Cleveland, Ohio, which includes a four-night hotel stay, dinner at the Hard Rock Café and an excursion cruise. Second prize is a 50” Flat Screen HD TV, and third prize is an outdoor storage container and solar lights. The punch card holder must be present to win and must show a valid ID to claim the prize. Employees of Catholic Charities and their families are not eligible to win.
"We encourage you to come out to support these events,” comments Vicky Schultz, president and CEO of Catholic Charities. “We are so thankful to all the pubs who are pulling together to support our meal programs,” adds Schultz.
