Catholic Men's Conference

Seven hundred and sixty men from Lansing, Saginaw, Grand Rapids and Gaylord Dioceses joined men from the Detroit Archdiocese for the 2014 Men’s Conference in Lansing.Craig Pohl, director of New Evangelization for the Lansing Diocese, said the Mass celebrated by Bishop Earl Boyea was wonderful. Bishop Boyea inspired those attending and challenged the men to really know love.
Speaker Tim Staples talked about his years in the Marine Corp and paralleled the Marines to being a disciple of Jesus. Staples encouraged those attending to be better husbands and fathers and stressed that the Catholic Church is the power of truth.
Dr. Ray Guarendi, also a speaker, had an amazing ability to share his joy and laughter. The Ave Maria Radio host said being good husbands and fathers is their way to heaven.
Brian Flynn treated everyone with his up lifting music. Reverend Joe Krupp, the chaplain for the event, inspired the men with his storytelling.
After the conference, Pohl said he will be traveling throughout the Lansing Diocese to help parishes to cultivate the spirit of evangelization – helping people fall in love with the Catholic Church and spread the Word of God to others. By Jan Hoffbauer
