Jackson Pro-Life Conference – building a culture of life

Father Mathias Thelen and Kathy Potts planned a Pro-Life Conference at Queen of the Miraculous Medal Church, Jackson, sponsored by the parish Knights of Columbus. On Jan. 19, Christians of all denominations gathered to listen to speakers – Dr. Monica Miller, director of Citizens for a Pro-Life Society; Marybeth Hicks, author and columnist for Washington Times; Dr. Patricia Hoffman, MD, Allegiance Health, Jackson and Mary Lockwood, a post-abortive speaker. Those in attendance came together to reflect, learn and become better equipped to build a “culture of life.”
Father Mathias said, “I wanted to do something for the 40th anniversary of Roe vs. Wade. If you miss life, you miss it altogether. Abortion is not merely a legal battle, but a battle over the hearts and minds of people who find themselves in difficult situations.”
Congressman Tim Walberg and 64th District State Representative Earl Poleski attended the conference to show their support for the pro-life movement.
At the conference there also were many pro-life booths, including Treasures In Our Hearts, a resource for pregnancy loss; Marriage Matters of Jackson, Pregnancy Counseling Services, Inc. and The Center for Women, to name a few. Those attending had an opportunity to talk to the vendors and learn about their services.
