Watch: Meet Our New Teachers | From Africa to Ann Arbor | Monica Raney

Monica Raney is excited. In recent years, the providence of God has taken her from her native South Africa to the United States where she is now able to share her love for classical education with the students of Saint Thomas the Apostle Catholic School in Ann Arbor.

“In conversation with the both the pastor at Saint Thomas, as well as the Headmaster, this interest and desire to be part of this community grew and, so, my love for the classical education, for journeying with students, just combined into a feeling that this is where I belong – and so I'm very excited to step into this position,” says Monica.

Saint Thomas the Apostle Catholic School has the stated aim of “educating students in the Eucharistic culture and classical intellectual tradition of the Catholic Church,” such that “they are led to encounters with the transcendental Good, True, and Beautiful."

Saint Thomas the Apostle Catholic School has been blessed in recent years with a significant rise in enrollment and is currently expanding its community of students to include the upper school grades. Hence, Monica has joined the faculty as a middle and upper school Mathematics instructor.

“I'm most looking forward to journeying with the students and being in such a beautiful place where the entire environment is orientated towards bringing children to Christ – as well as working with incredible colleagues.”
