Watch: The Diocese of Lansing Autumn Singles Matchmaking Ball 2024

80 young Catholics from across Michigan gathered for the Diocese of Lansing’s first-ever Autumn Singles Matchmaking Ball, October 13, to enjoy an evening of ballroom dancing with a view towards dating with a view towards marriage. Deo volente.

“We want to help foster holy, healthy Catholic marriages! Our culture very much needs to see holy Catholic marriages! And we are hoping to have some emerge from these kind of events,” explained Dawn Hausmann of the Diocese of Lansing’s Vocations Office who helped organize the event hosted at Saint Mary Magdalen Parish in Brighton.

“We're trying to create opportunities for young, single Catholics to get together, to meet each other, because it’s really hard in today’s culture to be able to naturally have opportunities to meet other single Catholics.”

It is in recent years that the Diocese of Lansing’s Vocations Offices have embarked upon facilitating singles events. Already several engagements and marriages have ensued. This month’s event in Brighton is the first diocesan singles event to have a dance component.

The gala evening saw the young people gather for drinks and hors d'oeuvres before being taken through their paces by a dance instructor. What happened after that? Watch and find out.
