Students go back in time for a day of school

On April 19, the third grade class of St. Pius X Catholic School in Flint traveled back in time to the year 1883. The class attended a fieldtrip to the Stanley Schoolhouse at Crossroads Village. The students were taught by Miss Stanford and experienced school as if they were pioneer children of the 1880’s. They were taught reading, writing and arithmetic, with the girls sitting on one side of the schoolhouse and the boys sitting on the other. Many students even dressed up in traditional pioneer clothing for the trip. The students enjoyed their experience and will remember it for years to come.
