Ellie Kooney was recognized at the Earth Day event at Constitution Hall on April 22 for her entry in the Michigan Department of Environmental Quality (MDEQ) poster contest. Kooney received first place out of thousands of entries. She is in fifth grade in Mrs. Diana Schmitz's class at St. Gerard School in Lansing.
