Read: Why we crown Our Lady in May? w/ Father Miguel Colunga, Saint Patrick, Brighton

Bring flowers of the rarest! May is the month of Mary and across the Diocese of Lansing parishes have been crowning Our Lady with garlands of flowers. But why? Pictured are some great images from the recent May Crowning at Saint Patrick in Brighton where the parish’s parochial vicar, Father Miguel Colunga, pictured, has this to say:

“I love the month of May. Why? Not because of May flowers, but because of the great honor we bestow upon Mary, our Mother. But why do we take the time to honor her in such a way like the May crowning? Simple-because of how her son Jesus honored her. Jesus was pleased to crown his mother Mary as Queen of Heaven and Earth, and so we too in imitation of our Savior find it worthwhile to honor her in the same way. Mary, Queen of Heaven and Earth - pray for us!”

Hence, let us pray:

Queen of Angels, pray for us;

Queen of Patriarchs, pray for us;

Queen of Prophets, pray for us;

Queen of Apostles, pray for us;

Queen of Martyrs, pray for us;

Queen of Confessors, pray for us;

Queen of Virgins, pray for us;

Queen of all Saints, pray for us;

Queen conceived without original sin, pray for us;

Queen assumed into heaven, pray for us;

Queen of the most holy Rosary, pray for us;

Queen of families, pray for us;

Queen of peace pray for us;
