Of your charity, please pray for these 26 young women from across the Diocese of Lansing who spent Saturday visiting four female religious orders – plus the home of a consecrated virgin – as they prayerfully discern if Our Lord, Jesus Christ, is calling them to the consecrated life.
“It is such a gift to see these young women experience the life and joy of the various religious sisters – I think they get surprised by the beauty of their joy,” said Dawn Hausmann, Director of Consecrated Vocations for the Diocese of Lansing and organizer of Saturday’s “Nun Run”.
Consecrated life is a permanent state of life in the Church whereby a person dedicates themselves to God through public vows of poverty, chastity, and obedience.
Saturday's Nun Run, October 18, saw the 26 women visit the Society of Our Lady of the Most Holy Trinity (SOLT) in Detroit; the Cloistered Dominicans Nuns in Farmington Hills; the Dominican Sisters of Mary, Mother of the Eucharist, in Ann Arbor; and the Religious Sisters of Mercy of Alma in DeWitt; plus a visit to the home of Dawn Hausmann who is consecrated virgin.
“When they see the sisters joke with each other and interact with each other in such loving ways, and as a family would, it makes women either want be part of their community or, at least, have a better appreciation of the religious life – so beautiful!" concludes Dawn.
