Saint Vincent Catholic Charities has a new interim Chief Executive Officer. Joe Garcia will take over from Andrea Seyka who stood down this week as Chief Executive of Saint Vincent after 26 years of service to the Lansing-based organization. Joe has been Chief Executive of Cristo Rey Community Center in Lansing since 2013. He will continue in that role while also serving as interim Chief Executive of Saint Vincent. Here is a statement issued November 14, 2022, by the Saint Vincent Board of Directors, in conjunction with the Diocese of Lansing, to friends and supporters of Saint Vincent Catholic Charities:
Good afternoon friends and supporters of Saint Vincent Catholic Charities,
On behalf of the St. Vincent Catholic Charities’ Board of Directors and the Diocese of Lansing, we wanted to inform you that Andrea Seyka has resigned from her position of STVCC Chief Executive Office effective Monday, November 7, 2022.
The Board and Diocese thank Andrea for her years of service, dedication and commitment to STVCC, and we wish her the very best in her next phase of life.
Steve Japinga, STVCC Board Chair, has been acting as CEO since Tuesday, November 8. Since this transition, the Board and STVCC’s leadership team have been committed to ensuring stability and purpose in what had been an extraordinary whirlwind of a week.
To that end, STVCC’s Board of Directors and the Diocese of Lansing are pleased to announce that Bishop Boyea has appointed Joe Garcia as STVCC’s interim CEO during the next phase of STVCC’s history. Joe has been involved in leading Cristo Rey Community Center for some time.
Joe will continue to serve as CEO of Cristo Rey Community Center. We anticipate he will bring his in-depth knowledge of our Capitol community, its people, and its unique resources to bear as he walks with us through the next phase of our journey.
Fortunately, these instrumental changes are happening swiftly and are happening for the purpose of growth. The needs in our community are continuing to grow with the changing economy and STVCC's services are needed now more than ever. We will continue to share these plans for the future as we move forward.
In the meantime, the Board, the Diocese and STVCC’s Leadership Team look forward to partnering with Joe as we make important decisions about how best to create a stronger future.
God Bless,
STVCC Board of Directors and the Diocese of Lansing
