Welcome to June, month of the Sacred Heart of Jesus! On the weekend nearest to the Feast of the Sacred Heart, the parish of Sacred Heart in Hudson is having a very special patronal celebration to which you and your family are invited, as pastor, Father Todd Koenigsknecht, now explains. He writes:
“The priesthood is the love of the heart of Jesus”. I love this quote from Saint John Vianney. It will be seen firsthand at Sacred Heart Parish this summer as we celebrate our patronal feast the weekend of June 28 and 29.
Each of our three weekend Masses will be celebrated by a different newly ordained priest for our diocese. The three that will join us all spent time at our parish as seminarians and will offer a Mass for the Sacred Heart just as they are beginning to live their priesthood.
Saint John Vianney’s words capture the fact that we are all meant to be set ablaze by the love of Jesus’ Sacred Heart. A love that purifies, heals, perfects, strengthens, and warms.
This is true in the ministerial priesthood, and it is true in the royal priesthood of all the baptized. To be men and women on fire so that having experienced all the graces of the Sacred Heart we are called to be miniature sacred hearts in our homes, our parishes, our workplaces.
How do we celebrate the Sacred Heart this month of June? Jump into the fire of his Heart and let Him set you ablaze!
