“I want to be the best priest I can possibly be” by Deacon Peter Ludwig

Of your charity, please pray for Deacon Peter Ludwig who will be ordained to the sacred priesthood by Bishop Earl Boyea of Lansing this Saturday, June 11, 2022. Deo volente.

“At the end of my life, my real hope is to have genuinely led people to Jesus Christ,” says 25-year-old Peter who hails from the parish of Saint Peter in Eaton Rapids.

Deacon Peter is the oldest of ten children. He grew up in Dimondale, just outside Lansing. He studied for the priesthood at Saint John Vianney College Seminary in Saint Paul, Minnesota, before going on to study at the Pontifical North American College in Rome.

“There's something to be said for the simplicity of just being a really holy priest, of just pouring yourself totally into exactly what God has for you. I don't know what God has for me exactly but, right now, that call is to be the best priest I can possibly be.”

Deacon Peter was recently commissioned as an officer in the United States Navy. He is now enrolled in the Navy’s Chaplain Candidate Program which will see him serve as a priest within the Diocese of Lansing for a few years before serving for, at least, five years as a Navy Chaplain.

Please keep Deacon Peter in your prayers in the days to come and beyond. Our Lady, Queen of the Clergy, pray for him.
