Foster care and adoption services

Amanda Goetting is an Adoption and Foster Care Licensing worker. She has worked for Catholic Charities serving Jackson, Lenawee and Hillsdale Counties for more than a year. Children in Monroe County also are served by Amanda. She shares, “I love the people I work with. I love the kids and have hope for the families.”
Amanda says the children are from infants to 18 years old. Even though everyone wants an infant; there are teenagers, sibling groups and special needs children looking for a home.
One success story is a seventeen year old girl who is being adopted by her foster parents.  She is looking into attending college and has made great strides to change her life.
There are about 20 foster care children in the program, as well as 20 adoption cases each year. The children are in foster care from a few days to 20 months. Some of the foster parents adopt their children if they cannot be returned to their biological parents.
More foster care parents are needed. If you have extra love in your heart to care for a child, please call Amanda at Catholic Charities at 517.263.2191.
