Rev Paul Schwermer, aged 59, entered eternal life Saturday, May 16, 2015 in the St. Robert Bellarmine Parish rectory, with family and friends at his side.Visitation will be from 11:00am to 7:00pm, Tuesday, May 19 at St Robert Bellarmine Church, Flushing. A Vigil service will be held at 7:00pm, with Msgr Richard Groshek officiating.
The Funeral Mass will be at 11:00am, Wednesday, May 20 at St. Robert Bellarmine Church, with Bishop Boyea presiding. Interment will follow at St. Robert Cemetery.
Father Schwermer, a graduate of Father Luke M Powers High School in Flint, was ordained in 1982 after completing priesthood studies at St John Provincial Seminary, Plymouth. He served as parochial vicar of: St John the Evangelist, Jackson; St John the Evangelist, Ypsilanti; St Robert Bellarmine, Flushing; and, St Gerard, Lansing. From 1990-93 he was pastor of Saints Charles and Helena Parish, Clio. From 1993 – 2009 he served as pastor of Holy Rosary Parish, Flint. He ministered as a hospital chaplain for the Genesee Vicariate from 2009-2011, and at the time of his death was the parochial vicar of St Robert Bellarmine Parish, Flushing and Good Shepherd Parish, Montrose.
