Of your charity, please pray for the repose of the soul of Deacon James Brown who died Monday, September 1, 2025. He was 84-years-old. May he rest in peace.
Jim Brown was ordained to the permanent diaconate in 1976 and retired from active ministry in 2017. He began his ministry at Saint Leo the Great on Flint's Eastside. More recently, he served for many years as a deacon at Saint Mary in Mount Morris.
Deacon Brown is survived by his wife, Ola Mae Swafford; his daughters, Malissa Pendergrass and Rebecca Achariyakosol; and his grandsons, Nicholas, Zachary Achariyakosol and Noah Pendergrass. The funeral arrangements are as follows:
* Visitation between 5pm and 8pm on Friday, September 5, with recitation of the Holy Rosary at 6pm at the Martin Funeral Home, 1194 E Mt Morris Rd, Mt Morris, MI 48458.
* Visitation between 10am and 11am on Saturday, September 6, at Saint Mary Catholic Church, 11110 Saginaw St, Mt Morris, MI 48458, with Requiem Mass to follow at 11am.
Eternal rest grant unto him, O Lord, and let perpetual light shine upon him. May his soul and the souls of all the faithful departed, through the mercy of God, rest in peace. Amen
