Bishop appoints Deacon Jim Kasprzak Director of Catholic Charities

Bishop Boyea is pleased to announce his appointment of Deacon Jim Kasprzak as Director of Catholic Charities, effective Monday, May 4, 2015.A longtime economist and financial manager for the State of Michigan, Deacon Kasprzak recently retired as the Chief Financial Officer and Chief of the Administrative Division of the Michigan Department of Environmental Quality.  In the course of a distinguished career in state government, he served in several capacities that well prepare him for his new role.  For example, his time as Director of the Bureau of Administrative Services of the then-Family Independence Agency and his role as Director of the Office of Human Services for the Department of Management and Budget provided deep insight into the challenges and issues faced daily by those who provide services to the vulnerable and the under-served.
Deacon Jim resides in East Lansing with his wife, Karen, who is a teacher at Saint Thomas Aquinas School.  Since his ordination in 2009, he has been assigned to Saint Thomas Aquinas / Saint John the Evangelist Parish, East Lansing.
