How can I Support Men Discerning the Priesthood?
The first, and most important thing to do is pray! We have a page with prayers here, which includes the Prayer for Priestly Vocations in the Diocese of Lansing that we ask you to pray. You can also contact our office and request prayer cards and posters so you can pray for the men individually. Click here if you would like to learn more about encouraging vocations.
There are also multiple opportunities for financial support.
Seminarian Education Fund: Even if a man already has an undergraduate degree, he still has 6 years of study ahead of him to become a priest. Donations to this fund help cover the costs of Graduate-level Theology studies.
Seminarian Special Needs Fund: When emergencies happen to a seminarian, he often does not have the financial resources to cover these costs. This fund is used at the discretion of the Director of Seminarians.
Knights of Columbus Councils: Councils around the diocese have donated financial gifts as part of their RSVP program and pray for our seminarians and priesthood vocations. If your council is interested in participating please call our office for details.
Bishop Albers Trust Fund: A fund created in 1972 to help men with the cost of college seminary. Except for grants from this fund, the men in college seminary are fully responsible for tuition, room and board.
